Let's talk snacks

I wanted to take a minute to share this new snack I found for my kids (and me too).  My girls are super skinny and I am always trying to find ways to get more protein and vitamins into their diet.  Recently, I began buying the Special K protein bars to put in their backpacks for snack time.  With 4 grams of protein, I felt this was a good step up from the Cascadian granola bars I purchased previously.

Then something wonderful happened, through Bzzagent.com, I got to try the new Fiber One Protein bars.  First of all, they are way larger than the Special K kind.  Perfect for the afternoon munchies that hit my kids.

Then you just have to take a look at the nutritional content to believe the rest.  This is a picture of the nutritional content from the two bars that are generally the same flavor (peanut and chocolate).  Check out the difference!
It may be difficult to see so let me lay this out for you...
Protein- SK 4g, FO 10g
Fiber- SK 4g, FO 9g
Calcium- SK 2%, FO 20%
Vitamin C- SK 0%, FO 20%
Sugar- SK 7g, FO 6g

And there is even more.  Fiber One is higher in every single vitamin and mineral.  The best part is, my family LOVES them.  The taste is wonderful.  I can't wait to try the other varieties.  I know that we have found a new staple in our house.

a Few Fun Finds...

I have come across a few really fun things on Etsy this week so I thought I would share.... Enjoy!

(actually her entire store is one of the most fantastic shops I have ever seen!)

This is a brand new Etsy seller but she seems to be on the right track.  This wreath is so different and made from recycled materials as well.

I stumbled upon this stocking in one of my teams.  I love the blue and red together to give it a different but still Christmas look...plus I am sure this stretches to hold all of Santa's larger goodies.

I would seriously own every single one of this seller's dresses if I could afford them.  I mean they are some of the best looking, unusual outfits, ever.  Love, love, love

Sometimes you need something that Hallmark doesn't sell.  These cards are full of cuss words and not at all politically correct but I smile when I read them.

My Crochet Love

I want to share with you all a new Etsy shop I recently came across. I was searching for some fingerless gloves with a flap to convert them into a mitten. I love the look of fingerless gloves and how they give me the dexterity to mess with my keys, etc. but my fingers were getting cold. So, off to Etsy I went in search of the perfect convertible mittens. I found some great ones but they were around $40 a pair. Seriously? I am not paying that much to keep my hands warm. Off to search some more...then I found them! I stumbled upon Makin' It Mama. The mittens were perfect. A lovely dark purple, a flap that buttoned on the back, and the thumb stayed covered at all times. But the best part was the price at only $18. Now let me tell you, I received these the other day and they are fantastic. The color is even better in person and they have a great thick feeling. Most importantly, they do their job. My hands stay nice and warm.

But I just couldn't stop there. While I was shopping for my mittens, my girls looked over my shoulder and saw the hats. All different animals, in different colors, for only $12-$18. Love it! Check out this giraffe! Is that not adorable? Okay, my family does NOT need any more hats. With three daughters we have accumulated enough hats to supply an army but I could not resist. We searched the pages and loved them all. I agreed to purchase one for my youngest daughter knowing that they could probably all share it. We finally settled on a monkey. Again, it was a perfect fit and very well made. I think it fits with my little monkey girl. What do you think?
Thank you Makin' It Mama for keeping us warm this winter! Congrats on a great product. I'll be back for more hats, I'm sure.
